Shafer Communications, founded in 2003 by Kelly
Kirkendoll Shafer, provides PR, marketing and
copywriting services to clients located throughout
the U.S. Our clients include
local, national and
multi-national clients across a variety of
industries, including business services, the arts,
non-profit, travel, career services, fitness,
entertainment, telecommunications, banking and
holistic health.
Our specialty is media relations. Our
clients
have appeared in a variety of media outlets,

About Kelly Kirkendoll
Shafer, Founder and President

As founder and president,
Kelly brings more than 15 years of marketing and PR
experience to each client relationship.
Kelly’s career started in
Corporate America, where she worked within a variety
of corporate marketing areas for major
telecommunications companies. Before launching
Shafer Communications, she spent six years as the
Director of PR and Marketing for a start-up
consulting firm, where she was part of the core team
that helped take the company public in 1999.
During her career, Kelly
has worked closely with executive-level
professionals in a variety of industries, including,
the arts, professional services, non-profits,
travel, telecommunications, banking and more. Her
experience spans almost every facet of PR and
Marketing, including media relations, marketing
communications, social media, promotions, product
marketing, advertising, competitive analysis and
investor relations.
Kelly’s PR credentials
include gaining media coverage for her clients with
CNN, MSNBC, Bloomberg TV, the Wall Street
Journal, USA Today, Fortune magazine, “O” The Oprah
Magazine, People Magazine, Men’s Journal, Dallas
Morning News, LA Times, Fort Worth
Star-Telegram, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance,
BusinessWeek, Chicago Tribune, LA Times,
Boston Globe and more. She has also served as a
company spokesperson for clients in print, radio and
TV interviews.
Additionally, Kelly is an
accomplished writer. She has worked as a regular
contributor to Fat Pipe Magazine and Your
Stepfamily
and is included in the 2005 National Directory of
Editors and Writers, a “who’s who” reference list of
500 US freelancers. Through Shafer Communications,
she writes, edits and provides strategic advice to
clients for their company e-newsletters, website
content, corporate collateral and more.
Kelly received her BBA in
Marketing from Ohio University, summa cum laude, is
a member of PRSA and currently resides in Fort
Worth, Texas.
About Natalie Bannon, PR
and Marketing Associate
Natalie Bannon brings more
than 8 years of communications and television news
experience to her role at Shafer Communications. She
began her career at the NBC affiliate in
Chattanooga, Tennessee in the news department. As an
assignment editor, she corresponded with public
relations managers and was responsible for assigning
story ideas to reporters. She also conducted
interviews with local officials, arranged interviews
and assisted with writing newscasts. Natalie later
moved to Nashville, Tennessee where she worked for
the Shop at Home Network and, later, the CBS news
affiliate.
Natalie knows how the news
media thinks, and she knows what makes a good story.
When she moved to Texas in 2006, she also knew it
was time to make a career change. Natalie wanted to
combine her love of writing with her news
experience, and she has found the perfect fit with
public relations at Shafer Communications.
Natalie began her college
education at Marymount Manhattan College in New York
City and earned her B.A. in Communication from the
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In her
free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and
their dog, “Tex.”
